KCI PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

 

 

Kids Changing Images Leadership Program is a free, interactive, academic year program, run by West Branch Fitness and Community Center youth staff.  It is designed to empower kids to be involved in impacting the present and future of their community and to instill leadership skills and an awareness of community needs.  Youth who are selected to participate in this program will:

 

            ► Learn to function in group planning, sharing and brainstorming sessions

            ► Learn from experiences of staff and selected presenters

            ► Identify the negative images and problems that face youth in the community

            ► Explore solutions to various issues facing our community

            ► Develop strategies to eliminate the negativity

            ► Gain awareness of and participate in volunteer community service

            ► Participate in fitness activities, field trips, and retreats

           

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

 

            ► Expose and educate youth about issues facing our community and to explore

                        possible solutions to overcome these challenges

            ► Strengthen youth leaders with the necessary attitudes, skills and knowledge

                        to be effective community leaders and examples to other youth

            ► Develop youth leaders of exemplary character so they have the ability to

                        make constructive, healthy, life enhancing decisions and choices

            ► Instill in youth leaders a passion to serve our community in various ways

                        and earn a KCI tee shirt by completing 40 hours of supervised

                        community service

 

APPLICATION/SELECTION PROCESS

Complete KCI application form with parent/guardian signature and applicants signed agreement, complete, sign and return to WBFCC the school release of information form along with the application.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Must be in good standing as a student on date of application with statement signed by the principal or school counselor, or a designated representative and must be in good standing with the WBFCC without any current disciplinary issues.  Applicants may be interview by the Youth Program Coordinator, Assistant Director, and/or Director of the WBFCC before final decision regarding eligibility to participate.
