The “W” is a place where everyone belongs and has the opportunity to participate in programs. Qualifications for scholarships are based on income, household size and extenuating circumstances. The “W” Scholarship Program Manager conducts private and confidential interviews to determine eligibility of scholarship applicants and authorizes scholarships up to 100% based on individual or family circumstances. The recipients of scholarships are required to provide specific monthly hours of volunteer service as compensation for this assistance.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
It is our desire that every household and individual in the in South Marquette County would choose to utilize the "W" as their primary source for their and their family member's exercise, fitness, health, entertainment, and recreational needs.
Scholarships require recipients to perform volunteer services at the "W" or in the local community as compensation for the scholarship. The decision on the scholarship percentage is made based on the monthly income in your household and is determined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services poverty guidelines, the number of persons in your married, single, or single parent household and your overall financial or ability situation. The percentages available and the monthly volunteer hours required are as follows:
Tier #1 – 100% - 20 Volunteer Hours of Special Program Support
Tier #2 – Must pay $5.00 per month – 15 Hours of volunteer work required per month
Tier #3 – Must Pay $10.00 per month – 10 Hours of volunteer work required per month
Tier #4 – Must pay $25.00 per month – 5 Hours of volunteer work required per month
Tier #5 – No Scholarship – must pay 100% of cost per status
Any member of the household may perform the volunteer hours. Failure to meet the volunteer requirement each month could result in notification to terminate your "W" scholarship and your may be required to pay the full amount for membership.
